What Is the VARK Learning Model?
TheVARK modelwas developed by educator Neil Fleming in 1987. It identifies four primary learning preferences that describe how people prefer to receive and process new information:
👁️ Visual (V)
Visual learners prefer information presented as charts, graphs, diagrams, maps, and videos. They think in pictures and benefit from color-coding and spatial organization.
🎧 Auditory (A)
Auditory learners learn best through listening and speaking — lectures, discussions, podcasts, and explaining things out loud. They retain information better when they hear it.
📖 Reading/Writing (R)
These learners prefer information delivered through text. They love taking notes, reading textbooks, making lists, and writing to consolidate understanding.
🤸 Kinesthetic (K)
Kinesthetic learners absorb information through doing, practice, and real-world experience. They prefer hands-on experiments, case studies, and learning through movement.
Multimodal Learners
Many people have strong preferences in two or more categories — these are called multimodal learners. Your results will show your full profile across all four styles.
